Funny Funny Funeral

When Ryan was about 11, our Granddaddy Shannon died. During the funeral, at times, it was a perfect comedy of errors - screaming relatives, or drunk relatives, or random outbursts. It was the perfect storm of sorts, as I teetered on the edge between tears and laughter. I looked over at Ryan, which was a mistake of monumental proportions, as I knew he would push me further over toward hysterical laughter. Reading his lips, he made a comment about the occurrence events, including hand motions. At that point, I doubled over laughing...hoping to appear to be crying. I never knew a time when Ryan couldn't make me laugh...even in the worst possible place or time for it, and I never knew him to take life too seriously. I think many lessons can be learned from that viewpoint...how much better could our lives be with making someone laugh when at the point of tears, or not being overwhelmed by the little things of life. May we always try to take that perspective.
